Knighton Heath Juniors won this years Dorset County Knock-Out Finals at Ferndown Forest to become the DCGU Junior Champions 2016.

We had a great 3.5 - 2.5 win in the morning semi-finals against Broadstone A.

Cameron Laird leading from the front with a great win against Brad Cox, followed by wins by John Ahern and Andy Su. It was looking like a play off with losses for Jordan White and Aidan Guttridge, until Kieran Laird with a half point, 2 down with 3 to play, dug in well to get us the half point that was required for us to progress into the Final.

Broadstone B in the final, we changed the team around with Aidan Guttridge being replaced by Amelia Guttridge who was very nervous playing in her first Dorset KO match. We knew what it felt like last year being beaten by Canford Magna in the final and the talk at dinner time was only about winning the gold medal !!

Once again Cameron led from the front winning the first 4 holes. John Ahern was going for a fantastic 8 wins from 8 games in this years competition and he also got off to a great start, with Andy Su, Kieran Laird and Amelia Guttridge all making steady progress. It all started to look like we might come out on top, Cameron was never in trouble all day, he came in with the first point of the final, Jordan was as always battling away after a poor start to his round losing on the 17th. John managed to get the win for a great 8 wins from 8 matches. The next point came from Kieran who was not going to let a very steady round get away from him, it was all a bit hectic for a 10 minute period but seeing Andy Windsor running up the 16th saying Andy Su was 2up with 2 to play, we knew we had become this years winners. With Andy Su winning the 17th, it was all but over. Amelia's great first time effort came to a end when we decided to conceded the 16th to lose 3/2, giving the team a fantastic 4-2 win.

Great effort all round, many thanks go to Andy Windsor for his great group lessons that have, for the first time given us two team event wins this year, we must be doing something right !!

Many thanks to all of you who turned up to support us on the day, it was a great atmosphere on the course as the winning post got nearer.
